A line has an x-intercept of 12 and a y-intercept of -4. What is the equation of the

line?

that means

we have the points

(12,0) and (0,-4)

Find the slope

m=(-4-0)/(0-12)

m=-4/-12

m=1/3

Find teh equation in slope intercept form

y=mx+b

we have

m=1/3

b=-4

therefore
