The model we'll use is b. 5/3 = 40/w
The mass of the shorter bar is 24 kg.

To solve for the problem, using the formula above, it will looks like this

5/3 = 40/w -- cross multiply

(5)(w) = (40)(3)

5w = 120 -- isolate the w

5w/5 = 120/5

w= 24
